Re-imagining the Role of IT for Digital

Neil Sholay, Vice President of Oracle Corporation

We are entering a new digital industry economy where everyone will be a technology company. The demand for faster innovation cycles, the ability to respond to non-traditional competitors and the realisation that Data is actually a form of capital will put even more pressure on CIOs and IT departments unwilling or unable to transform.

This keynote will explore the shift from monolithic, centralised IT towards IT becoming the Digital factory. Unlike enterprises that are born digital, most don’t have the luxury of starting with a clean slate; they must build an architecture designed for the digital enterprise on a legacy foundation. This keynote will explore the role of Two-speed / Bi-Modal IT to support the needs of the Digital business and the imperative to maintain existing systems in a stable, high quality environment.

The keynote will offer real examples of Digital disruption, describe what Digital means to an organisation and present the characteristics of Digital leaders as observed over the last two years of working on Digital Transformation projects.  Finally, it will address the role of culture, talent and organisation design for Digital Transformation  – something often overlooked.

Silicon Secured Memory (SSM)

Ivo Raisr, Oracle

T7 is the 4th generation of Sparc processor since 2010.
A major advance is the processor's intrusion protection, known as Silicon Secured Memory (SSM),
which provides safeguard and monitoring capabilities built into the hardware, replacing
the need for slow software-based instrumentation. SSM assigns a key to the memory blocks being
allocated, this key is compared during execution, preventing inappropriate access to memory
location outside the bounds of the SSM. This is done with no performance overhead.

Memory blocks are monitored in real time in order to identify illegal attempts at memory access,
diagnose their cause and take appropriate action. This capability can help protect against programming
errors as well as against malicious attacks such as the infamous Heartbleed security bug.

This presentations describe how and where to use this breakthrough technology with examples suitable for all levels.

In the background of the process is a complex mechanism, and the review of it extends beyond the scope of the 10-minute "quick talk", but we briefly introduce the benefits and the difficulties. We also share with the participants the more detailed information resources.

The company locally implemented Oracle EBS, PO and iProcurment systems, version 12.2. The go-live happened in October 2015. The short presentation focuses on the implementation of the central tax module (e-Tax), highlighting those challenges and solutions that arose due to the company's requirement of business process continuity.

Attila Juhász, Konzorcia

With decades of experience in dealing with Oracle EBS implementation and support we see that while core business processes are well supported at many customers, there are secondary processes, which are not or not sufficiently integrated to the ERP system. In some cases these mean unproductive workflow and business risk in the company’s life.
I will shortly introduce some supplementary applications, which support on really effective way these secondary business processes. The applications were developed with Oracle APEX development tool and are fully integrated with Oracle EBS system.
